Thieves & dacoits have gone to the BJP, wouldn’t have got Trinamool tickets this time: Mamata Banerjee
She indicated the corrupt were leaving her party to join the BJP.
Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that some thieves and dacoits who have amassed huge wealth have left her party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, as they wouldn’t have got tickets to contest the Assembly elections from her party. Banerjee was speaking at the state conference of All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation titled ‘Anne Ananya Bangla’.
Political insiders feel that the Trinamool chief wants people to know that those who quit her party to join the BJP wouldn’t have got tickets from the Trinamool Congress this time, and are corrupt, and her party has actually gained in the fact that several MLAs have joined BJP. Banerjee has been saying that the move by these new BJP recruits is actually to protect the wealth they have amassed.
Calling the BJP a “washing machine”, she said “some thieves have made a lot of money by making a deposit to Govardhan in order to turn the black money into white money.”
Banerjee today attacked the leading opposition in the state, accusing the leaders of “buying” media houses and producing biased news. “The media under BJP influence is showing the same news all day as if any particular incident has occurred more than once and magnifying them,” she said.
Addressing the ration dealers, Banerjee added that the license renewal period of ration dealers is being extended from one year to three years. She also announced that the working capital of those applying for a new ration dealership would be reduced from 5 lakh to 2 lakh. In addition, if ration dealers die while on duty, the state government will provide an assistance of Rs 2 lakh.
The CM thanked the ration dealers for delivering food to the common people during the pandemic. She said the commission has been increased a lot from before. Digital ration cards have been issued; rations are being given on coupons. She said that the overall condition of the dealers has improved a lot.
