AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi doesn’t agree poll schedule will inconvenience Muslims

Hyderabad parliamentarian and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday said that the argument that the poll schedule during the Ramazan month will inconvenience Muslims is totally uncalled for. Yesterday, after the announcement of the poll schedule by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, Trinamool Congress leader Firhad Hakim said that the poll schedule covering the months of April and May – which are extremely hot and during the Ramazan month – will inconvenience the Muslims.

The elections will be held between April 11 to May 19 and results will be declared on May 23.

Owaisi said: “I would request those political parties that please don’t use the Muslim community and Ramazan for whatever reasons you have.” He said the Muslims will definitely fast, but they also go out and lead a normal life during this period. “My analysis is that this month will lead to more voting percentage because one will be free from all worldly duties,” he added.

Firhad Hakim had said yesterday that the long voting schedule involving seven phases in Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, will inconvenience all stakeholders especially the voters, as the Muslims will be fasting during the Ramazan month.
