Want to return Saradha money: Trinamool MP Satabdi Roy writes to ED

Trinamool Congress MP Satabdi Roy has written to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) saying she would like to return Rs 29 lakh that she had received from Saradha.

Roy has told the ED that she had got into a contract with the chit fund company Saradha and she would like to return this money. Earlier, another movie star and Trinamool Congress MP Mithun Chakraborty, had returned the money he had received from the chit fund company.

This is an important development in the probe and in the politics of the Trinamool Congress that is increasingly trying to project a clean image of the party and its leaders.

Sources said that the ED officers are verifying the amount that Roy has mentioned in her letter. Roy has been interrogated by central investigating agencies in connection with Saradha and Rose Valley chit fund companies.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the ED are probing the chit fund scams and are interrogating several persons in this connection.

Bengali film actors Prasenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Trinamool leaders Madan Mitra and Satabdi Roy, former Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh, businessman Shibaji Panja, artist Suvaprasanna, former CPIM leader Lakshman Seth are among those who have been interrogated by the two agencies in connection with the chit fund scam probes.

Sources said that the ED officers have come across several inputs after interrogating Rose Valley owner Gautam Kundu in prison and the series of summons have been issued to various people.
