Trinamool Congress minister Rajib Banerjee’s announcement to go “live” on Facebook on January 16 has created a flutter in political circles. On Thursday evening, the party MP Satabdi Roy announced that she would make public her decision on Facebook Live on Saturday at 2 pm – which has already created ripples in the political circles in Bengal. Banerjee will go “live” at 3 pm on the same day.
Banerjee has not made his decision clear – though for the past few months there have been speculations and rumours about his possible move to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). It is not yet clear what he might announce tomorrow, but the announcement of the live on social media shared widely on his several “fans” pages, has fuelled rumours. Will Trinamool Congress face a double jolt on Saturday with two senior party leaders – Satabdi Roy and Rajib Banerjee – possibly moving to the BJP?
