Trinamool celebrates “Khyala Hobe Dibas”

This was the party's popular slogan for 2021 Assembly polls.

Trinamool Congress on Monday celebrated “Khyala Hobe Dibas” across West Bengal with party leaders organising football matches in various parts of the state.

The day is being observed as a show of respect to 16 people who had died in a stampede during a football match in Kolkata on this day in 1980. It is also to promote sports. Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee had announced that the day would be observed as Khyala Hobe Dibas every year.

“Khyala Hobe” was Trinamool’s widely used slogan prior to the 2021 Assembly polls in Bengal that had gained popularity across the country. The slogan has subsequently acquired a positive connotation that seeks to challenge the opponent with its conviction and confidence, after the Trinamool won in a landslide victory and formed the government in Bengal for the third consecutive term.

The party has since been looking to expand its presence in other states, including in Tripura, Assam, Kerala, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. Thus, in other parts of the country, too, similar events have been organised on the Khyala Hobe Dibas today.
