Trinamool cities “anomalies” in Suvendu Adhikari’s nomination papers in letter to EC, seeks its cancellation

Adhikari had registered himself as a voter in Nandigram recently.

The Trinamool Congress has written a letter to the electoral registration officer in Purba Mednipur for the deletion of the name of Suvendu Adhikari from the electoral rolls of AC-210 in Nandigram. The letter, signed by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien, was sent on Wednesday.

The letter states that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Nandigram, Adhikari, has furnished false particulars of his residence. It says that in his affidavit in Form 26 that his name is entered at Sr. No. 669 in Part No. 76 of the electoral roll of AC-210. The letter also points out that Adhikari’s name also appears at Sr. No. 305 on the electoral roll of AC 209, Haldia. The letter mentions that according to the rules no person can be registered as a voter from more than one constituency.

The Trinamool MP in his letter also mentions that Adhikari has filed an application for migration of his name from electoral rolls of Haldia to Nandigram with “false documents”. It quotes the BLO, Bijali Giri Roy, as saying that Adhikari was absent during her field visit and not seen at the address since last six months. Moreover, the two documents submitted by the former Trinamool leader have no proof.

Citing the above anomalies, the letter urges the electoral registration officer of Purba Mednipur to cancel the nomination papers.
