Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh has openly threatened the ruling Trinamool Congress that his party will create trouble on Sunday.

At a public meeting on Saturday, Ghosh said that people should stop Trinamool Congress leaders on their way to Kolkata, pull them out of buses and trains and demand from them the “cut-money” they have taken from common people in lieu of offering them with funds under government-run schemes. There have been clashes and turmoil over the “cut-money” issue from various parts of the state.

The Trinamool Congress leadership read Ghosh’s statement as a way of inciting his supporters to cause trouble and throw the ruling party’s important meeting out of gear.

State minister Chandrima Bhattacharya lodged a first information report (FIR) against Ghosh with Kolkata’s Hare Street police station on Saturday evening.

Reacting to the FIR, Ghosh openly challenged the ruling party and said that the BJP would “definitely cause trouble on Sunday”.

“We will cause trouble on the day of the meeting and we have plans to throw this party out of power in West Bengal. Let them stop us,” Ghosh said.

Minister Firhad Hakim said that the BJP chief will have to pay for his comments and has to land up in jail for trying to foment trouble. Lakhs of people come from all over Bengal and from outside to the Martyrs’ Day meeting on July 21 in Kolkata which Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee addresses.
