Some other Trinamool leaders have been summoned too for various probes
Trinamool Congress’ general secretary Partha Chatterjee has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the case of an ongoing chit fund probe. Chatterjee is West Bengal’s education minister as well, and is contesting from the Behala West constituency for Trinamool Congress in the coming Assembly polls. He has been summoned in connection with the I-Core chit fund probe.
Chatterjee himself said that he is not aware of the summons.
Another Trinamool Congress candidate, former minister Madan Mitra, has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam. He has been asked to be present in the agency’s Salt Lake office on March 18. Mitra is contesting from the Kamarhati constituency. Already Trinamool’s MP and candidate Manas Bhunia has been summoned by the ED. Trinamool’s spokesperson Kunal Ghosh was also called twice by the Central investigating agency recently for the Saradha probe.
Ahead of the Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress’ various leaders being summoned by different Central probe agencies has been alleged by the party as a way of harassing them.
