Two FIRs against Dilip Ghosh for “should be shot like dogs” comment

Two first information reports have been lodged against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh for making inflammatory remarks in a rally on Sunday.

On Sunday, Ghosh in a public rally in Nadia district said that those involved in damaging public property should be “shot” like they were in BJP-ruled states. He rued that the Mamata Banerjee government had not aimed a single bullet at the shaitans doing the same in Bengal.

Two FIRs have since been filed against him for such inflammatory statements, by Trinamool Congress leaders in Nadia’s Ranaghat and in Habra of South 24 Parganas. The complainants have accused Ghosh of “criminal intimidation, promoting enmity and hatred between religious groups and intention to cause injury.”
Several leaders from various political parties reacted sharply to Ghosh’s remarks including his own party’s Union Minister for state Babul Supriyo. Supriyo condemned Dilip Ghosh and said it was “irresponsible” for him to say so.

In a tweet on Monday, Supriyo wrote, “BJP, as a party has nothing to do with what a DIlipGhosh may hv said•It is a figment of his imagination & BJP Govts in UP, Assam hv NEVER EVER resorted to shooting people for whatever reason whatsoever•Very irresponsible of DilipDa to hv said what he said.”

Ghosh however said that many FIRs are filed against him every month and “these things do not matter” to him.
