Our governments shot those damaging public property, like dogs: Dilip Ghosh

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh at a public rally in Nadia district on Sunday said that those involved in damaging public property should be “shot” like they were in BJP-ruled states. He was attending a programme in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). But not a bullet had been aimed at the shaitans doing the same in West Bengal, he rued.

He criticised chief minister Mamata Banerjee for not opening fire and ordering only lathicharge on those opposing the CAA protests in West Bengal in December last year who had gone on a rampage and damaged public property.

He said that “Didi’s police” did not take any action against those who destroyed public property as they are her voters. “Our governments in Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Karnataka have shot these people like dogs,” Ghosh said, saying that this was the most appropriate thing to do. “Who do they think the public property they are destroying, belongs to? It belongs to the taxpayers. It is not their father’s property, and not their zamindari. You come here, eat our food, stay here and damage public property? We will beat you up with lathis, shoot you and put you in jail…” Ghosh said.

He said it was important to identify those who were “sabotaging the interests” of the “Hindu Bengalis”. “One crore [of “Muslim infiltrators” in the country] is in West Bengal and Mamata Banerjee is protecting them,” he said.
