“Upset, sad and heartbroken”: Soumitra Chatterjee’s daughter Poulami on hospital pics & medical bulletin shared on social media

Photographs of veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee on the hospital bed and his medical bulletin shared on social media has upset his daughter Poulami Bose. Chatterjee has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in a critical condition in Belle Vue Nursing home in central Kolkata.

The 85-year-old actor’s daughter wrote on Facebook that she is “extremely upset, sad and heartbroken” to find unauthorised pictures of him from the ICU and his medical bulletin being shared widely on social media. There were rumours on social media on his health condition as well. She has requested and appealed to give the actor “privacy and respect that he so richly deserves”.

Poulami Bose wrote on her Facebook page: “Amidst this time of huge anxiety over the health of my Covid-afflicted father, Soumitra Chatterjee, we are extremely upset, sad and heartbroken to find unauthorised pictures of him from the ICU and his medical bulletin being shared widely on social media. Please give him the privacy and respect that he so richly deserves. Kindly do not share such images/information and do not heed or indulge in rumour mongering. This is the urgent appeal of my family. Your prayers and good wishes are always very welcome. Thank you.”

Hospital authorities have said that Chatterjee continues to be critical, but stable. Several parameters are stable and some other parameters are being monitored constantly.
