A senior IPS officer in Bengal was seen in a video – that has now gone viral – extending his hand to touch the feet of chief minister Mamata Banerjee after she is seen feeding cake to a number of officers and ministers.
In the video, the officers and senior leaders of the Trinamool Congress are standing before her. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kailash Vijayvargiya has tweeted the video, adding, “What kind of democracy is this?” The authenticity of the video could not be independently established by The Bengal Story.
Banerjee is seen seated on a wall with the sea behind her, and the location appears to be Digha in East Midnapore, which she visited last week. A box with a cake is seen in front of her and she is feeding a piece of cake to those standing before her.

An officer in uniform is seen taking a bite from the piece of cake from Banerjee’s hand, extending his arm towards her feet and then touching his head with his hand. This officer is purportedly Rajiv Mishra, the Inspector General of Police, Western Zone. This is what Vijaywargiya mentions in his tweet.
The other IPS officer, in civilian clothes is purportedly Vineet Goyal, Director, Security, in charge of the chief minister’s security. In the video, Goyal is seen taking a bite from the cake. He has also received the Chief Minister’s Police Medal this Independence Day. The third person to take a bite from the piece of cake is senior Trinamool Congress leader Sisir Adhikary.
