Virendra back as DGP, Jawed Shamim back as ADG-law & order in Bengal

Mamata Banerjee initiates transfer of police top brass after swearing in as CM

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that senior IPS officer Virendra will be back as the state’s director general of police and senior IPS officer Jawed Shamim will be back as the additional director general (law and order). Banerjee announced this a few hours after swearing in as the chief minister.

The senior officers Virendra and Jawed Shamim were transferred from these positions by the Election Commission after the announcement of elections and after the model code of conduct came into effect.

The EC had appointed IPS officer Neeraj Nayan Pandey as the state DGP and IPS officer Jagmohan as the ADG law and order.
