We will oust the BJP from the Centre in three years: Abhishek Banerjee

The Trinamool Congress leader was speaking at a public meeting in Samsergunj.

The Trinamool Congress will win all three byelections scheduled on September 30 and within three years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be ousted from the Centre, Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee said today. He was speaking at a public meeting in Samsergunj where one of the three byelections is scheduled.

He said that the BJP has failed in all its promises, including in every state where “double engine” government exists (a term coined by the Centre’s ruling party to indicate the state and Central government ruled by the same political party). On the other hand, Banerjee said, the Trinamool government in Bengal had fulfilled all its promises, including the implementation of the Kanyashree project, sending rations home and now monthly allowance for women as well as students’ credit cards.

Banerjee asked why the BJP was “so afraid” of Trinamool Congress in Tripura and had imposed Section 144 when he was going to visit the state. “I promise that we will win in Tripura. Despite so much of money power, the BJP is still afraid of the Trinamool Congress,” he said. “I have said earlier that we will make our presence felt all over the country. They (BJP) are doing this because they could not win in Bengal. Now they are using Central investigating agencies to threaten us,” Abhishek Banerjee said, adding, “Within the next three years, we will oust them from Delhi.”

The Trinamool MP added that the Uttar Pradesh government is using photographs from West Bengal to “showcase” development in that state. “Why has there been so little progress in that state that they had to steal a flyover from us?” he asked.
