Temperature in Kolkata and elsewhere in south Bengal will come down again from Friday, leading to a pleasant and cooler weekend, the weather office has said.
The northwesterly wind which brings the chill into the state was prevented from entering by a western disturbance for the past two to three days during which the minimum temperature had gone up to 16°C. However, in the weekend ahead, temperature will start coming down again gradually and is likely to reach 12°C on Saturday. Darjeeling and Kalimpong may receive rainfall.
Temperature drop will be marked across south Bengal where it will go down by 3-4°C. But the drop will be gradual over the weekend. Temperature will again start rising from Monday as the state comes under the spell of another western disturbance.
It may drizzle in Kolkata on Monday and Tuesday while parts of south Bengal are likely to get rainfall from Tuesday. It may continue to rain till January 30 intermittently. An anti-cyclonic circulation may develop over Bay of Bengal which will bring moisture-laden winds to south Bengal.
