Rain will continue in spells all over Bengal on Saturday and Sunday, leading to a sharp drop in temperature from Sunday evening, according to the forecast. Sikkim and Darjeeling may receive snowfall this weekend. It has already snowed in Sandakphu on Friday.
Heavy rains are predicted on Saturday afternoon and evening in some parts of the state. Although rainfall is less likely in Kolkata on Saturday, the city will largely remain cloudy. Heavy rain is predicted across north Bengal on Saturday, while south Bengal will receive sporadic rainfall.
While the rainfall will be heavier in Bankura, Purulia and Birbhum, parts of south Bengal will experience thunderstorm today.
There will be much less rainfall on Sunday, with clear sky across most parts of the state. Once the sky gets clearer, the effects of western disturbances that had kept the wintry chill away will also disappear. Thus, the temperature will again drop from Monday bringing back the chill. Temperature already started falling due to the rains and the day temperature can even go down to 10°C.
