The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request made by six opposition ruled states to reconsider its earlier decision and postpone engineering and medical entrance examinations JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) and NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test).
The six states – West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Puducherry – had requested the court to review its earlier order and postpone the examinations considering the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
The apex court had earlier turned down such a request made by 11 students from 11 states. The JEE has started on September 1 and NEET is scheduled on September 13.
