Dilip Ghosh says Trinamool workers will be stripped, beaten up; also warns police for working for the ruling party

Bharatiya Janata Party’s West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh on Sunday said that Trinamool Congress workers will be stripped and beaten with shoes. Ghosh was in Sodepur of North 24 Parganas in one of his “meeting over tea” gatherings. Ghosh also warned police officers for “working for the ruling party” and said that within a year he would ensure they are unable to be with their families.

Dilip Ghosh was referring to a year from now, when he said that the BJP would be in power in West Bengal and not let go of the Trinamool Congress workers or the police. “We won’t forget about those who have threatened and intimidated people. We are noting down everything in a notebook,” he said. Ghosh has made similar controversial statements earlier.

“We will strip [Trinamool Congress] workers on the road and beat them with shoes,” he said. He raised a slogan “Unishey half, ekushe saaf” – meaning half of the Trinamool Congress had been conquered in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, and the remaining power would be wrested in 2021, when the Assembly polls are scheduled in Bengal. Ghosh’s comments are heard to be cheered at with chants of “Jai Shree Ram” at the gathering.

“Some police personnel are working at the behest of the ruling party. Within a year, we will ensure that they are unable to be with their families,” Ghosh said, adding that these officers were spending money to educate their children outside West Bengal. “Their children won’t be able to complete their education. We will turn them into migratory workers,” he said.
