COVID-19: Schools, colleges in Bengal to re-open from Nov 15
CM Mamata Banerjee asks the administration to take measures for the re-opening.
Schools and colleges in West Bengal will re-open from November 15. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday asked chief secretary H.K. Dwivedi to ensure sanitisation is done thoroughly in all the schools before they re-open.
Schools have been closed all over the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, for over a year and a half. While some states have re-opened schools and colleges, educational institutions have remained closed in Bengal so far. The Bengal CM had said earlier that she would review the situation after the Pujas and announce a decision later.
Banerjee made the announcement at an administrative meeting in Siliguri on Monday. After Durga Puja, some other festivals will be held in the coming days, such as Kali Puja, Diwali, Jagaddatri Puja, Chhat Puja, Bhai phota/Bhai dooj. Once these are over, schools and colleges will be opened after thorough sanitisation.
