Three civilians killed in Kashmir after army fires at stone-pelters
Three civilians including a 16-year-old girl succumbed to bullet injuries in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday after security forces opened fire at protesters for allegedly hurling stones at them.
Also, around ten protesters were injured in the violence with two of them suffering bullet injuries. They are currently undergoing treatment in hospital.
According to police, while patrolling in the Redwani area of Kulgam an army contingent came under attack from unidentified stone-pelters.
The deceased persons were identified as Shakir Ahmad, Irshad Majid and Andleeb. All of them were residents of Hawoora in Kulgam.
A day before the second death anniversary of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani, the civilians’ death created tension in the valley with protesters blocking the roads in different parts of south Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Narinder Nath Vohra called a meeting to discuss the issue and sought a detailed report from the security agencies on the incident.
The government suspended internet services in the region to stop spreading of rumours and fake news about the killing along with covering several parts of Kashmir under tight security.
