A police officer in Argentina breastfed a crying baby on duty. She has been praised by people from all over the world for her “great gesture of love”. Later, the officer was promoted by the government.
Officer Celeste Jaqueline Ayala, was patrolling a local children’s hospital in Argentina when she heard a baby’s cries. Ayala, who had recently become a mother, knew immediately that the child was hungry. She sat down on a chair outside the hospital ward and breastfed the child, it was reported by the CNN.
A colleague took a photograph of Ayala feeding the child and posted it on Facebook. “I want to make public this great gesture of love that you displayed today with this baby,” the colleague said on the post.

The post was shared by hundreds of people who praised Ayala. Later, she was promoted from officer to sergeant. “We wanted to thank (Ayala) in person for that gesture of spontaneous love that managed to calm the baby’s cry,” Cristian Ritondo, the minister of security of the Buenos Aires province, tweeted. “An officer we’re proud of. An officer we want.”
