Shujaat Bukhari’s killer LeT terrorist Naveed Jatt shot dead in encounter

Naveed Jatt, a 22-year-old Lashkar-e-Taeba commander said to have killed Rising Kashmir Editor Shujaat Bukhari, has been shot dead in an encounter with security forces in Bugdam district of Jammu and Kashmir, it was reported.

Bukhari was shot dead five months ago – on June 14 – by Jatt and two other local militants. Bukhari had come out of his office and was about to enter his vehicle when he was shot dead by militants who came in a two-wheeler. Two of his security personnel were also killed.

Jatt was killed along with another terrorist, when they opened fire at the security forces in Bugdam district, and this led to retaliation, according to officials. According to officials, he had managed to escape in several earlier operations.

Jatt is said to be close to Abu Qasim, the former LeT head in Kashmir who was killed by security forces in 2015.
