Yogi Adityanath unable to land in Bengal after government denies helicopter permission, addresses rallies over phone

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath could not land in West Bengal in helicopter as planned – in order to address two rallies in West Bengal’s Balurghat and Raigunj – as the administration did not clear permission for the helicopter to land in these areas.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the government denied the permission because the ruling party was afraid of Adityanath’s popularity.

Adityanath addressed both rallies over telephone and said that West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was misusing her power. He also said he would come to Bengal and address rallies in future.

Initially, Adityanath’s helicopter was not given permission to land in Balurghat. Till then, BJP leaders were hoping he would address the Raigunj rally. But in Raigunj permission could not be given because of waterlogging in the grounds. The BJP alleged that Trinamool supporters had watered the ground and caused the waterlogging in order to cancel the programme.

BJP leaders were fuming all day over this.

Meanwhile, Union home minister Rajnath Singh addressed a meeting at Chinsurah in Hooghly district today.
