Here is a list of upcoming Sports Utility Vehicles, the most sought after car styling in recent years.

Mitsubishi Outlander (new generation)
The Outlander will make a comeback after six years in the third generation avatar. Powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine that generates nearly 167PS of power, the vehicle has seven airbags, hill start assist (HSA), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD) and active stability control (ASC) with traction control logic (TCL).

The Trailhawk is a more capable version of the extremely popular Compass. While the Compass is a very capable city vehicle, the Trailhawk adds the off-roading capabilities with Jeep’s Active Drive Low 4×4 system, rear locking differential, rock setting on the Selec Terrain system and hill descent control as standard. Ground clearance has also been increased by 20mm. The Trailhawk also gets underside skid plates and all-season tyres.

Kia SP
The production version of the Kia SP showcased at the India Auto Expo earlier this year will be Kia’s launch vehicle in India. Expect all the works in the vehicle to enable Kia to take on Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. Kia has not disclosed the engine specs.

Mahindra S201
The S201 based on Ssangyong Tivoli will take on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. With ABS, EBD and dual airbags becoming standard fitments, expect all of these and more in the new SUV from the Mahindra stable. Like the TUV300, the S201 is likely to have two seat configurations: five and seven seater.

The E-Pace is Jaguar’s answer to Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA and the most affordable car in the portfolio. The entry level SUV will be a front-wheel drive and available in both diesel and petrol versions.

Volvo XC40
The XC40 is Volvo’s smallest SUV and will compete with Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes-Benz GLA. It will sport both diesel and petrol engines. Like other Volvo’s the XC40 will be packed with safety features including Pilot Assist system, City Safety, Run-Off Road protection and mitigation, road sign information, lane keeping aid, cross traffic alert with brake support and rear collision warning. The City Safety feature detects vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians and helps avoid collision by autonomous braking up to speeds of 60kmph.

Renault Duster (new generation)
The French firm calls it a new generation Duster. But to most Indians, it would appear a facelift. The butch styling is retained. Inside, the air vents become rectangular as opposed to the circular vents in the current version. Subtle changes in the position of headlights and beltline makes the vehicle look wider and bigger.

The H5X is one of the most anticipated cars and is expected to be introduced by mid-next year. Developed on the all-new OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) platform, the HX5 will feature the Impact 2.0 design philosophy and get a coupe-like silhouette with pronounced wheel arches.

Audi SQ7
The most-powerful SUV from the stable of Audi, the SQ7 will be powered by a 4 litre diesel monster. It will also be the first production SUV to feature an electric power compressor that will boost the vehicle’s performance. The vehicle will take on BMW X5 M and Mercedes GLE63 AMG or GLS 63AMG and top-of-the-line Land Rover Discovery.

The new Q3 will have a wider grrille, fresher headlamps and taillights. Built on a new platform, it will sport an all-new cabin built on a new platform.
Volkswagen T Roc
The T Roc is a compact SUV designed on the same MQB platform used in Golf cars. The vehicle will have both petrol and diesel engines. The T Roc will take on Jeep Compass, renault Captur and Hyundai Tuscon.

Jeep Renegade
This compact SUV will stand out with its boxy retro looks complemented by square headlamps and taillights. Customers can choose various interior options. The five-seater vehicle will have a spacious boot and removable roof panel. The vehicle is expected to be offered in both front wheel and all-wheel drive options.
Mahindra Rexton (new generation)
Based on the Ssangyong Rexton, the new vehicle will get a Mahindra badge and cosmetic changes and may be rechristened XUV700. This will be the plushest Mahindra offering powered by 2.2 litre diesel engine with automatic gearbox. The vehicle will be feature-loaded with a massive 9.2 inch touchscreen, 360-degree camera, 7-inch LED instrument cluster and cooled seats.
