Modi government completes four years: BJP govt hard sells achievements and targets, opposition critical

As the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Patry (BJP) government stepped into its final year before the general election, the government launched a new slogan Safi Niyat, Safi Vikash along with publicity videos, pictures across social media platforms to let people know about the “good governance” under PM Modi. The opposition parties slammed the ruling party for poor governance during the period.

In a series of tweets, Narendra Modi said that over the past four years, India had achieved several landmarks in various fields – rights for farmers, security for women, health infrastructure, development and so on. Thanking the people of India for their support, the Prime Minister mentioned that several schemes like Mudra Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana had brought significant changes to the lives of common people.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi meanwhile, said that the Narendra Modi government had failed in every sector including agriculture, foreign policy, fuel prices, job creation. He slammed the government saying it was good only at promotional and slogans.

The CPI (M) alleged on Twitter that people were suffering immensely under the BJP rule and that the party was playing religious card.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier said that all opposition parties must unite and field single candidate against BJP to prevent division of opposition votes.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo Chandra Babu Naidu has said that all the opposition parties would come together against BJP and the regional parties would emerge as the king-maker in 2019.
