Alyque Padamsee, noted ad guru and theatre actor, died in Mumbai today. He was 90.
He is also known for his role as Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the film Gandhi. Padamsee made his acting debut when he was just seven years old, and has acted in a number of plays. He is also known for his English language theatre productions.
Padamsee made Lintas into one of the top advertising agencies in the country. He was the brain behind the iconic Liril ad – which showed a girl in a waterfall – as well as others like Humara Bajaj, Lalitaji for Surf. He received the Padmasree in 2000.
