Biweekly lockdown in Bengal till September 20, here are the dates; schools, colleges will continue to remain closed

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced that schools, colleges and other educational institutions will remain closed till September 20 in view of the pandemic situation in the state. She had earlier said that the next announcement on reopening educational institutions will be made after reviewing the situation in the first week of September. On Wednesday too she said that the situation will be reviewed again before taking a decision on when educational institutions may be considered safe for reopening.

The CM also announced that the biweekly complete lockdown will continue till September 20. The first three days of complete lockdown will be September 7, 11 and 12. Other restrictions in and around containment zones will also continue as usual.

As of now, the entrance examinations are scheduled for the first week of September, and thus there won’t be complete lockdown before September 7. The state governments run by political parties other than Bharatiya Janata Party are planning to move Supreme Court on postponing NEET and JEE examinations apart from taking up the matter with the President and Prime Minister.
