Launched a couple of weeks back, the Trinamool Congress programme, Didike bolo (tell Didi/talk to Didi) has received lakhs of responses within 24 hours.
The impact of the programme is also evident from the reaction of the Opposition political parties in the state. The CPI(M) has already planned a programme to ask embarrassing questions to the chief minister, using the line, “Didike bolo…” And now, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too is coming up with new lines to counter Mamata Banerjee’s programme.
The BJP is now telling the electorate – “Didike chharo, Narendra Modi ke bolo” (“leave Didi, tell Narendra Modi”). According to the BJP leaders, Trinamool Congress, due to its huge loss of face, has taken resort to agencies from outside the state to improve its brand value.
Meanwhile, nearly all the 216 legislatures of Bengal’s ruling party have started participating in the Didike bolo programme from their respective constituencies. This includes the top ministers of the party as well. People can directly reach their complaints and suggestions to the party and even to Mamata Banerjee, through a phone number and website. Party functionaries are distributing stickers, T-shirts and putting up posters all over the state to popularise the programme.
