A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker from Madhya Pradesh’s Bagli constituency Champalal Devda was captured on CCTV assaulting, slapping and threatening to kill a police constable at Uday Nagar police station in Dewas district on Friday night.
The assaulted constable reportedly rebuked Devda’s nephew when the latter snatched a water bottle from one of the persons sitting in the restricted area of the police station. Following this, the accused person informed the lawmaker and he slapped and assaulted the constable. The constable was spotted standing at the corner with his hand behind his back, it was reported.
Dewas district Superintendent of Police Anshuman Singh said the investigation was on and Devda was booked under Sections 353 (preventing a government servant from discharging his duty) and 332 (assaulting public servant) of the Indian Penal Code.
