BJP MP Arjun Singh’s cryptic post sparks speculations on his re-joining Trinamool

He had joined BJP in 2019.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Arjun Singh took to social media on Friday to post a cryptic message that has led to fresh speculations on the possibility that he may quit the party and re-join Trinamool Congress. Such speculations have been doing the rounds for some time now.

On Friday, Arjun Singh wrote on Facebook: “Har nazar mein mumkin nahi hai, begunaah rehna/Chalo… kawshish karte hai ki, khud ki nazar mein, bedag rahe” (which roughly translates that it is not possible to remain unblemished or impeccable in the eyes of all, therefore, let’s hope to remain untarnished in one’s own eyes.)

Singh has been reportedly having disagreements with the party leadership and with the Central government. He has recently been vocal about difficulties of the jute workers alleging that Union minister Piyush Goyal was not doing anything about it despite being aware of the problems. Singh even threatened to take out protest marches if the Centre does not immediately intervene. All this has led to speculations that he may re-join the Trinamool Congress.

Singh has been a Trinamool MLA from Bhatpara for four consecutive terms since 2001. He joined the BJP in 2019 after being denied a ticket by Trinamool from Barrackpore, which he was reportedly keen on contesting. Later, he won from Bhatpara on a BJP ticket.
