Bulandshahr police chief removed for cop’s killing in mob violence

The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday shifted the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bulandshahr, KB Singh, reportedly for negligence in the incident of violence that took place in the area on December 3 after the cow carcasses were recovered.

Earlier, Syana Circle officer Satya Prakash Sharma and Chingrawthi police outpost in charge, Suresh Kumar were two other officers transferred on Friday for dereliction of duty.

The government is investigating the incident in which a mob attacked policemen and inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a local youth Sumit Kumar were killed.

Senior officers met chief minister Yogi Adityanath after the incident and a special investigating team was formed. The state DGP, OP Singh handed over a report to the CM. It is being said that the transfer of the officers took place because they were not quick enough to respond to the situation. Yogi Adityanath meanwhile, has said that it was an “accident”.

The state home secretary Arvind Kumar has said that KB Singh was transferred and attached to the DGP headquarters in Lucknow while Prabhakar Chowdhary was made the new SSP Bulandshahr.
