Classes 8 to 12, colleges & other educational institutions to re-open from Feb 3

Schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions will re-open in West Bengal from February 3. Schools will re-open for students from class 8 to 12. For classes 5-7, there will be a system of taking classes locally. This was announced by chief minister Mamata Banerjee at a press conference in Nabanna today.

The classes for 5-7 has been termed, “paray paray pathshala” (roughly translating to “schools in the neighbourhood”). Other restrictions in view of COVID-19 and Omicron will continue till February 15. Some relaxations have been made though – like 75 per cent workforce to attend office for government and private organisations. The same percentage of people have been allowed for places like restaurants, weddings etc.
