COVID-19 in Bengal: discharge rate crosses 75%, 89,703 patients discharged so far

The COVID-19 situation in West Bengal seems to be improving as the discharge rate is increasing every day now, and reached 75.02 per cent on Monday. So far, 89,703 patients have been treated and discharged across the state.

There were 32,319 tests done on a single day – on Monday. Out of this, 3,080 have tested positive. Till now, 13,47,091 COVID-19 tests have been done in the state. There has been 2,473 deaths so far, with 45 deaths taking place in the past 24 hours.

With the number of deaths per day coming down, and the number of discharge rate high, even though the number of persons testing positive has increased, the discharge percentage in Bengal has shown remarkable improvement, especially over the past few days. The higher number of cases reported has been attributed to the high number of tests being conducted right now.

Officials say that if the same trend continues and the discharge rate crosses 80 per cent over the next few days, the situation would be all the more under control. There have been 1,19,578 COVID-19 positive cases reported in the state so far, with 27,402 active cases currently.
