Raigunj parliamentary constituency’s Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate Mohammed Salim’s vehicle was attacked at around 11 am in the Islampur area while voting was on. The driver fled the area, leaving Salim behind.

According to the candidate, he had received some information on some trouble going on in Islampur’s Patagara area and decided to see it for himself. He said repeated calls to the police yielded no results.

However, when he visited the area and went near the booth where there were allegations of malpractice going on, there was a sudden attack on his vehicle. In the melee, the driver fled due to fear, leaving him behind. Salim added that despite the attack on his vehicle, the police did not take any action.
