Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s condition is stable

He was admitted to hospital earlier this week after testing positive for COVID-19.

West Bengal’s former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who tested positive for COVID-19 last week, is stable though he continues to be weak. He was admitted to a hospital in Kolkata earlier this week.

Bhattacharjee was being treated at home after testing Covid positive, but had to be hospitalised as his condition became vulnerable. His oxygen level was reported to have dropped below 90 per cent earlier this week when doctors advised him to get admitted to a hospital. Bhattacharjee, 77, has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and thus doctors decided to not take chances. It is learnt that his oxygen level has increased now.

He continues to be weak however. The hospital where he has been admitted has formed a medical board of doctors to constantly monitor various parameters, including his heart condition.
