Crude bombs hurled in central Kolkata during election

Crude bombs were hurled outside Mahajati Sadan in the Jorasanko Assembly constituency area of central Kolkata on Thursday morning, during the last phase of the Assembly election in West Bengal. It is reported that two crude bombs were hurled.

In another incident, some bombs were reportedly hurled near the vehicle of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Meena Devi Purohit, who is former deputy Mayor of Kolkata. Purohit said that the voting procedure is being disturbed with such attacks.

Trinamool Congress candidate from Jorasanko, Vivek Gupta, said that the bombs were hurled to scare and intimidate voters. A huge contingent of Central forces and Kolkata Police personnel rushed to the spot, but no injury or casualty has been reported.
