A fire broke out at a research wing of Kolkata’s Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute (CNCI) around Tuesday noon. Three fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. However, there was an initial panic at the hospital in the adjoining building where many patients visit and many others are admitted.
Fire officials managed to prevent it from spreading to the hospital building. People were immediately evacuated from the area where the fire was seen, as well as from the lab areas. The cause of the fire is not yet clear, an official said.
