Former Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt detained

Former Gujarat IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt was detailed by police on Wednesday morning, in connection with a 1996 case. In the said case, a Rajasthan-based lawyer was allegedly framed in a narcotics case.

The lawyer had filed a case against Bhatt when he was a police superintendent. It was recently that the Gujarat High Court ordered a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the 22-year-old case, filed in Rajasthan’s Pali, the Indian Express reported.

According to senior police officers, the Gujarat High Court had asked the CID to investigate this case and Bhatt was found to have made a false case against the lawyer. Seven persons were detained in this connection.
