Gautam Adani’s son calls on Mamata Banerjee, discusses investment proposals

Karan Adani, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Adani Ports & SEZ Limited, called on West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna today. Karan Adani is the son of Gautam Adani, the chairman and founder of the Adani Group. Gautam Adani had called on Banerjee in December 2021, expressing keenness of the company in investing in the state.

The 2022 Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS) is scheduled in April and the Adani Group is expected to join the summit and announce investment proposals. The BGBS is scheduled on April 20-21 this year. Banerjee had toured Mumbai in December and spoke about her interest in bringing investments to Bengal. She had also toured Delhi prior to that, and had invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the BGBS for him to inaugurate the summit.

The BGBS could not be held for the past two years in Bengal due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first such business summit to be held in the state after Trinamool Congress’ third win in the Assembly polls in the state.
