Illegal arms factory busted by Kolkata Police’s STF

The Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police busted an illegal arms factory in Agarpara, near Dumdum area of Kolkata on Wednesday.
Officers from the STF had arrested two youths named Md. Ashfak Ahmed and Md. Aslam from Rabindra Sarani in Kolkata on Monday, August 6. They hail from Jharkhand and Bihar respectively. After questioning the duo, the police got information about the factory in Agarpara, where a well developed unit of weapon making had grown root. Sixty two semi finished guns and considerable amount of material used in the making of guns, as well as other weapons were found from the site.
On July 30, three persons involved in the dealership of fake notes were arrested. Along with rupees one lakh worth of cash, 40 guns too were found by the police. On interrogating one of these youths, Md. Abdullah, the police got information about an arms factory in Jagaddal of Barrackpore police station area. After six men were arrested and 20 guns recovered, the search for more such illegal arms factory in the surroundings of the city was found by the police.
Illegal arms made in several such factories in and around the city were being routinely peddled to Bihar and Jharkhand. The additional information that this illegal weapon racket had associations with a fake currency racket too came up after the interrogations. In the wake of these previous operations and interrogations, Monday’s arrest and consequently Wednesday’s crackdown materialised.
