International golfer Jyoti Randhawa has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly poaching inside the forest area of Katarnighat. He is currently being interrogated by the DFO Katarnighat along with other officials.
Randhawa was arrested along with one Mahesh Virajdar, who was with him. Apparently, forest department authorities picked up the duo and handed them over to the police. However, interrogations are being done by both police and forest department officials.
A vehicle, several wildlife articles, gun registered in Randhawa’s name, binoculars etc were reportedly seized from them. According to forest officials, Randhawa owns a farm in the Motipur area of Katarniaghat. They were found roaming suspiciously in the area for the past few days.
Randhawa is a professional golfer who ranked in the top 100 in the Official World Golf Ranking several times.
