Internet, schools shut down before PM Modi’s visit to J&K

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu & Kashmir on Saturday for inauguration of some development projects, the state authorities have shut down internet connection and educational institutions along with other restrictions in various pockets of the valley.
In separate events at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, the Prime Minister will first mark the commencement of work on 14km-long Zojila Tunnel which will be equipped with latest technologies and it is going to be India’s longest road tunnel, once built. Also, the PM will lay the foundation stone for Srinagar ring road and Jammu ring road.
Amidst plans of some peaceful protests at Lal Chowk Srinagar during Narendra Modi’s visit, security arrangements throughout the valley have been heightened manifold.
