A Kolkata bound IndiGo flight from Chennai returned to its destination shortly after take-off due to a technical snag. The civil aviation ministry has taken serious note of the incident, according to reports.
The Indigo authorities said there was no emergency landing of the said IndiGo Airbus A320neo plane of January 3. “There was no engine shutdown and no emergency landing was declared,” Indigo’s statement read.
However, some reports suggest otherwise. There was reportedly a “loud bang” and the engine of the aircraft stalled mid-air, and there were sparks and vibrations.
The flight returned to Chennai, but the engine blades had been damaged. An investigation is being carried out by the Centre.
