Heavy rain and thundershowers in various parts of south Bengal have been predicted over the next three days. The Alipore Meteorological department has sounded a warning for heaving rainfall from Saturday in south Bengal, including Kolkata.
With Durga Puja over, there is less of a worry for puja revellers, but people plan to continue the fun over the weekend and that may be spoilt due to the rains.
There were thundershowers in Kolkata on Friday afternoon, leading to worries for the police as puja committees headed for the immersion to the Kolkata and Howrah ghats. Rains are predicted to be heavy from 17 October in Kolkata, Hooghly, Howrah, South 24 Parganas and other districts in coastal Bengal. Thundershowers with light to moderate rainfall over parts of Kolkata, South 24 Parganas and Nadia is also expected.
