Madhyamik, HS cancelled; evaluation system to be worked out: Mamata Banerjee
About 79% people said exams should be cancelled
The West Bengal government today announced cancellation of the Madhyamik and Higher Secondary examinations in the state. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee made the announcement at Nabanna today. She said that the system of evaluation of students will be worked out within a week.
The state government had formed a committee to take a decision on the matter. Banerjee said that 34,000 emails had come to the committee and about 79 per cent respondents had suggested not taking the examinations.
Banerjee said that even the committee was not in favour of holding the exams. She asked the senior officials to work out a way to evaluate the students so that their future assessments are not affected negatively by it.
