Mamata Banerjee’s brother passes away, had COVID-19 related complications

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s brother Ashim Banerjee passed away on Saturday morning. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata, and was under treatment for some weeks. He had COVID-19 related complications. He was 60.

West Bengal has reported 20,846 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, and 136 patients died in the same period.

About 3.26 lakh new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total cases in India to 2.43 crore. In the past 24 hours, 3,890 patients have died.
