Nine persons died and 14 others were injured on Tuesday in a gas explosion at the Bhilai Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh. It is located approximately 30 km from the state’s capital Raipur and is run by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
The explosion took place in a gas pipeline at around 11 in the morning. The injured were taken to a local hospital. Those being treated at the hospital are said to have serious burn injuries. The fire was brought under control.
