One dead, over 20 injured in grenade explosion at Jammu bus stand
One person died and over 20 were left injured in a grenade explosion at Jammu bus stand this morning. Some of the injured were stated to be critical.
Inspector general of police (Jammu) MK Sinha spoke to the media stating that the explosion seemed to have been “launched from outside”. He noted that the grenade had “rolled beneath a bus injuring many people”.
The injured have been taken to hospital and the condition of three persons was stated to be very critical. The officer added that the area has been secured and deployments made to conduct enquiries into the blast.
The police were “working on leads” and there was “nothing very specific” at the moment. It was reported that an eyewitness had parked his bike and heard a “loud sound” and rushed to the spot to discover more than a dozen people badly injured.
This is not the first incident of a blast in Jammu and Kashmir in the recent past. On February 13, around 12 children got injured when a blast took place inside a school in Narbal in the Pulwama district.
