Over 200 people from Bengal stuck in Afghanistan, govt writes to Centre for their safe return

Over 200 people from West Bengal are stuck in various parts of Afghanistan and the state government is writing to the Centre to ensure their safe return. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee today said this at a press conference.

“So far, we have received information that there are about 200 people in various parts of Afghanistan. Our chief secretary is writing to the Central government to ensure their safe return,” Banerjee said, responding to a question.

She said that the information received so far is that they are from Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Terai region of the state.
