Passengers looted by armed men in two AC coaches of Jammu-Delhi Duronto Express
Armed robbers boarded two AC coaches of the Jammu-Delhi Duronto Express at Badli at 3:30 a.m. today and looted passengers at knife-point.
The train was waiting for the signal to change in the outskirts of Delhi when the robbers boarded coaches B3 and B7 of the train. During this harrowing ordeal which lasted between ten to fifteen minutes, the robbers held knives close to the neck of passengers and demanded all valuables.
From cash to bags, mobile phones to gold chains – they asked for all expensive items to be handed over, writes a passenger on the the railway’s portal in his compliant. There were between seven to ten miscreants but not a single member of the staff or security personnel on the scene when the incident took place, as per the complaint. The train attendant and ticket examiner (TT) were found only twenty minutes later, by which time the robbers had disembarked from the train. The train attendant allegedly said that there were no security personnel on the train, the passenger mentions in his complaint.
A Railways official has stated that the Railway Protection Board has ‘early leads’ in the case and that the robbers will be nabbed soon.
